Vera Jenny Basiroen, known as Jane, is a lecturer and graphic designer from Pangkal Pinang, Bangka, Indonesia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Trisakti University and a Master of Fine Arts in Computer Arts Multimedia from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. In 2022, she completed her Ph.D. in Art Studies at the Institut Seni Indonesia Denpasar, Bali, focusing on sustainable design with a special emphasis on Lasem batik motifs.
At Binus University, Jane serves as the Course Content Coordinator for the Graphic Design & New Media Program in the Visual Communication Design Department, where she inspires students to explore the intersection of tradition, modern design practices, and emerging technologies.
Her research and publications—featured in IAFOR Journal of Cultural Studies, Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities, and Data in Brief—span topics such as sustainable design, visual communication, and the role of modern design approaches in empowering traditional artisans. Whether mentoring students, collaborating with artisans, or contributing to academic discourse, Jane is dedicated to using design as a bridge between heritage and the future.
