Sus Eko Ernada is an Indonesian scholar whose expertise spans International Relations (IR), gender and feminism, diplomacy, human rights, nationalism, and ethnopolitics. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Universitas Jember (UNEJ) and a postgraduate degree from The Australian National University (ANU), where he studied under the Australian Development Scholarship and Asia Pacific Endeavour Award, granted by the Australian Government. His academic work reflects a deep engagement with critical theory and real-world policy. He has authored several influential publications, including “The Female MSME Practitioners and Digitalization from a Feminist Perspective” (2023) and “Salient Topics on Gender Equality Research Trends in Indonesia: A Bibliometric Study on the Scopus Database” (2024). His book Nasionalisme dan Etnopolitik dalam Hubungan Internasional critically explores identity, nationalism, and global politics. He has also contributed to international discourse on diplomacy, Islam, and history, notably through “Rewriting Westphalia and Reviving Bandung: The Historical Trajectory of Nahdlatul Ulama’s Global Islamic Vision (2025).” In addition to academic work, he is an active public intellectual, with articles featured in major Indonesian outlets such as Kompas, Sindo, and several digital platforms. From 2014 to 2019, Sus Eko served as Special Staff to the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, working on inclusive policy design and gender-responsive programs. He is currently part of the Badan Pengembangan Jaringan Internasional (BPJI) of Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), focusing on international partnerships and transnational engagement. In the field of sustainability and education, he serves as Chairperson of the Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) East Kalimantan, and was the initiator of RCE East Java, hosted by Universitas Jember. Both RCEs are part of the global network recognized by the Institute for the Advanced Studies (IAS) – United Nations University (UNU), Tokyo, Japan. He also holds international certifications in both major research methodologies: the Certified International Qualification in Quantitative and Qualitative Research (CIQnR & CIQaR), underscoring his commitment to rigorous, globally informed scholarship.
